BigSpy is a powerful ad spy tool that offers various filters to help you find the right ad. To be successful with this ad spy tool, you will have to be very refined with your search.

BigSpy, can search for ads by keyword, category, country, and even specific platforms.

How BigSpy Can Inspire Your Next Marketing Campaigns

Let's start with marketing campaign ideas. When you initially open up the ad spy tool you will see a nav bar with featured ads. The featured ads section is not going to be that useful for us. Let's immediately ignore featured ads for now and refine our search.

In the above example, I was looking for Father's Day inspiration for leather bags. I did a keyword search for Father's Day and leather, separated by a comma. The comma allows me to use two different keywords.

I then sorted by Shopify stores that were running Facebook ads in the United States and that had copy in English. I choose to only look up images. I also choose to see only CTA's that were "shop now" and were looking for purchase.

Once I hit search Spy provided me with all the advertising activities related to my query.

After narrowing my search BigSpy provides me with 25 ads to draw from. I could of course widen this search to just Father's Day if I want to see a broader picture.

Popularity - BigSpy ranks popular ads on a scale of 0-1000. When I did my first search BigSpy showed the least popular ads first. Counterintuitive, but something to keep in mind after doing your search.

Creative Ideas For Your Next Marketing Campaigns

Scrolling through the images provided. I'm looking for a couple of things.

First, does the picture represent what I want in my brand? If the image ad creatives are not aligned with my brand then mentally I discard them.

Next, for the ad creatives that are on brand, scan through these to see what images are being used.

Are they primarily using a product on a white background?
Do the Facebook ads creatives feature 1 product or many?
Do they have text on them?

Using BigSpy To Look At Ad Copy

Looking at the copy being used. Some of the more popular ads mentioned: free gifts, mentioned June 19th, had emojis, or provided the code in the ad itself.

Ads that did not perform well mentioned 20% off or best sellers.

What we could takeaway is that ads that were mission-focused, had fun (emojis), and had a clear CTA. Performed better than ads that just mentioned Father's Day and a discount.

Using BigSpy To Look At Your Competitor Landing Page Link

For more information on the advertising strategies, your competitors are using you can look at their landing pages. Within BigSpy click on the CTA, in my case, this is the Shop Now button.

By clicking on the shop now button, BigSpy will direct you to the landing page for that ad.

This is a good way to get a good idea of what landing pages your competitors are willing to spend money on.

Do You Have To Pay For BigSpy

Not listed here is free access. With free access BigSpy only provides you with 5 searches a day. Not ideal in my opinion.

The basic plan allows for 20 queries a day. This is a great place to start if you are not familiar with using adspy tools.

The pro plan allows unlimited queries per day and is $99. Although a large jump in price this is fairly priced considering the alternatives.

The enterprise solution gives you unlimited everything and is $300.

Should I Use BigSpy?

Yes, I would recommend using BigSpy if you are in one of the following positions.

Just starting with Facebook ads and want to use BigSpy to know what your competitors are doing.
Have been running ads for a while on your own and do not have an in-house or agency FB manager.
Have in-house or agency, but do not feel like you have a complete marketing strategy in place.

If you're in positions 1 or 2. BigSpy will save you time.
